Thatcher Ansong

Through the US economy, environmental factors and ethical decisions are all major lenses that impact and help determine whether the United States should have more restrictions on animal maltreatment in factory farms and modified food. Haven’t you noticed that there are fast food industries everywhere. You would see Mcdonald, Burger King, and other fast food industries selling mostly unhealthy processed food. Many people argue that fast food industries have a positive impact on people, However, fast food industries have negative effects because the food is unhealthy. Food Restaurants should try to reduce the chemicals injected into the animals. The fast food industry affects people poorly because most of the food is unhealthy and could have an impact on the consumer body. The food that the fast food restaurants make are mostly artificial flavoring and chemicals added to make people want to eat more. Fast food  industries have many ingredients that are purposely added so that food tastes good. Schlosser and wilson the author of Chew On This clearly explains ‘’The taste of food is no accident . It is carefully designed to be remembered all your life” (Schlosser & Wilson 110). The fact that they could make food taste like anything could cause people to have illness and be tricked. Some chemicals can taste the same as real food but the chemicals in artificial flavors are  unhealthy for our body. I put the 2 images to show how these wealthy fast food chains are cruel at treating these animals. I am trying to persuade consumers to be aware of what the fast food chains are feeding them and how they are treating the animals. Chipotle took action to give their consumers good food. Chipotle’s purpose statement is to give  “Food with Integrity.” Food with integrity is Chipotle’s commitment to finding the very best ingredients raised with respect for the animals, the environment and the farmers.  It means serving the very best sustainably raised food possible.” If chipotle can do this, other fast chains can follow the pattern.

Figure 1

His image shows three animals:a chicken, a sheep, and a cow. The chicken has an electronic blade cutting its head off and the cow and the sheep have a Knife. All three of the animals have their eyes open looking toward the front. The purpose of making blood drip from their neck and their eyes looking at the audience is to make the audience feel guilty. The picture is ironic because the image says “ Free range” “Cruelty-Free wool” and “Organic Milk”. The image is ironic because the companies who use these [phrases promise that the animals are treated well, but however they are not. The blood is bright red which draws the audience attention to it.

Figure 2

This image compares and contrasts chickens in different eras. As you can see in 1950 the chich is 70 days old and skinny, while in 2008 the chicken is 48 days old,  fat and heavily chested. Chicken in 1950 were growing slowly however chickens are growing really fat because of bilgil.  Chickens meant for meat are given vigil to grow fat and help companies make profit.

The Scarecrow Animation

Figure 3
This video is from Chipotle which is an American chain of fast casual restaurants in the United States, specializing in tacos and Mission-style burritos. This animation exposes fast food companies factories.it’s an imaginary world where technology is advanced. Machines make the food and scarecrows are in charge of the factory maintenance. We see one scarecrow who is disappointed with how the world has become. When he fixes the wall,  there is a hole in the whole and we can see  a chicken getting injected with a needle. Once the chicken gets injected it grows in size. Then the chicken is turned into chicken nuggets making the human happy. Next we see cows in little tiny cages getting milked with machines. The cows look into the scarecrow eyes scared. The scarecrow empathizes with the animals and the people eat from it. The humans are unaware of what they are eating. They are lied to and believe their food is 100% real meat. The scarecrow goes back home to his farm sad and upset. He goes to his garden, sees a fresh red pepper and realizes that he can make a change in society. He created a fresh and organic food stand where people can eat. Chipotlte used this advertisement to show that their company is different from Mcdonalds, Burgerking, and etc. If more fast food companies follow Chipotle’s path the world would become happier and healthy.
